The Kleine Munsterlander are bred to hunt feathers and fur; uplands and water.  They are also exceptional blood trackers and eager to assist with big game recovery. Our Kleine Munsterlander puppies will also be excellent family dogs with a calm demeanor in the house but ready to turn the switch when you are going hunting.

Sage Grouse Season - 2022

North Dakota 2022. Our almost 15 year old KlM even got to hunt. Slow and methodical!!!

Our second trip to North Dakota was in November. We met up with a college buddy, his friend and a total of 6 dogs!! It was awesome and crazy. Again the weather was nice and the dogs did great. Our older Munsterlander didn’t get to hunt much on this trip. 2022 was her 15th hunting season and her her last trip to North Dakota. She was a awesome hunting dog and friend!!

2023 Hunting and Blood Tracking

ND Pheasant 2023

Foxi vom Gusseisen
VGP September 9 - 10, 2022
Score = 292 Prize II

Foxi (a.k.a Lota) will be four years old on December 7, 2023. Lota loves to hunt and she is full of energy and eager to please.  She looks to me for direction and once she understands what I am trying to tell her, she is on it.  She will follow commands when it is clear what is expected of her. Lota is a natural pointer, and showed this trait at a young age. She has natural backing (honoring) instincts.  Training has taught her to hold on point, flush and shot…well most of the time! She is soft-mouthed and an excellent retriever of dead game.  She has amazing prey drive and an excellent nose for tracking.  She can track fur and feathers which is a great trait to have in a hunting dog, since we all know we cripple birds. In order to find that game, you need a dog that can track.  She has been on one elk blood track in the "real world" and she did well even though she only found the broken arrow in the end.  Blood tracking is natural to her. She has hunted sage grouse, ruffed grouse, dusky grouse, chukar, pheasant, Hungarian partridge, sharptail grouse and a few quail.  She will work the open prairie, high elevation sagebrush habitat, and the forest.  She loves water, though she has limited experience hunting ducks and geese.  She has hunted wild birds in WY, ND, ID and MO and typically hunts on public land or private lands open to the public.  Lota is a versatile hunter.

She is a lover and wants everyone to love her.  She has no problem with sitting on your lap and being petted and does well with both adults and kids.  She worked the Wyoming Outdoor Expo in 2022 and was a huge hit with all the school kids, letting them smother her with rubs.  She will gladly sleep in bed with you if you allow her.  However, she is also fine by herself, in or out of a crate.  She is mellow in the house but ready to turn the switch when you bring out the shotgun!
